Installations you can trust

Given the longevity of NPS’s history in the renewables sector it remains vital to us that we continue to complete projects that we are confident to put our name to. We continue to strive for excellence and deliver high quality installations, building the trust of our clients.

All our projects are meticulously overseen by our multi-disciplined team who are on hand before, during and after project completion. Below highlights the clients journey from initial enquiry through to project handover and support.

Commercial Services Process

1. Initial Enquiry

Our opportunity to understand your needs and your opportunity to ask any questions.

2. Follow up

Following an initial enquiry, our system designers will initiate contact either by telephone or by providing a customer information form to obtain further details regarding your property and project objectives. A preliminary site assessment will also be conducted using satellite imagery.

A comprehensive understanding of your current electricity expenditure, energy consumption patterns, and the available roof or ground space for solar installation is essential. This enables our team to accurately determine the appropriate system size and evaluate its capacity to meet your specific energy requirements.

3. Desktop Feasibility

Our expert system designers will get to work by modelling your site within the design software. All of the site data will be used to generate an accurate and bespoke feasibility report which will contain a design proposal along with production data estimates for the system (production, new site consumption, financial savings, ROI and payback period). An indicative initial cost will be given that will be confirmed following site survey.

The feasibility report will assist you in progressing your project with confidence, acknowledging you will have a clear understanding of the advantages you will have gained once your system is installed.

4. Site Survey

With the project proceeding to the next stage, a site survey will be scheduled to allow our team to visit the site and engage in a more detailed discussion regarding the installation. During this visit, we will inspect the roof and any available external areas to evaluate the most suitable locations for the solar panel array, inverters, and associated cable routing.

The site assessment provides an opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project scope and to refine cost estimates. It also serves as an ideal occasion to explore product options, review warranty details, and address any questions you may have regarding the system or installation process.

5. Detailed Design & Final Quote

Following the completion of the on-site survey, our surveyor will review the findings with the wider team, address any questions or concerns raised during the visit, and prepare a final quotation for your consideration.

Upon acceptance of the proposal, your project will be transitioned to our operations team, who will begin coordinating the necessary steps to deliver your project.

6. Applications

Our team handles any applications associated with the project. The two main permissions associated with solar & battery storage projects are ‘Prior Approval’ (a building regulations process for systems over 50kW) & DNO grid permissions (G99 application on systems over 3.68kW)

7. Pre-installation on site meeting

Members of our technical install team, including your dedicated project manager, will conduct a site visit to assess the requirements for access and scaffolding, confirm the proposed installation approach, and ensure that all necessary preparations are in place for a smooth installation process.

Any issues identified during the initial survey will be thoroughly reviewed, and appropriate solutions or adjustments (such as alternative cable routing or minor design modifications) will be discussed and agreed with you. Careful consideration will be given to occupied sites to ensure safety of your workers and to alleviate any disruption to your day to day operations. In the case of schools or education sites, full team enhanced DBS certificates will be supplied.

At the time of booking the pre-installation survey, you will be provided with a provisional installation date. Following the site visit, we will confirm this date based on the finalised installation plan.

8. Pre-installation Documentation

NPS take full responsibility for the project under the CDM (construction design management) regulations, operating as principal contractor. We supply a full ‘Construction Phase Plan’, a ‘Bespoke Site Plan’ and full ‘RAMS’ (risk assessment method statement) documentation for review and sign off.

9. Installation

Your dedicated project manager will oversee the delivery of the physical installation of your system. Our experienced team of installers will deliver with excellence, fully dedicated to delivering your installation to the highest standard. We have decades of experience across our team of on roof fitters and electrical engineers who work seamlessly together to achieve the successful completion of your installation.

10. Commissioning & Site Handover

Our senior engineer will oversee the final set up and commissioning of the system including all certification required. In some situations the DNO will require a witness test as part of their G99 application completion, which we liaise over directly with them.

Part of the site handover will be a detailed walkthrough with the relevant stakeholders from your team. Equipment will be demonstrated and any shutdown procedures highlighted. We will remotely monitor your system for a further 48 hours before handing over monitoring permissions to any site team you require access.

11. Paperwork Handover Pack

Upon completion of the installation and site handover our team will compile and supply the relevant paperwork that will form your handover pack. This will include a detailed schematic diagram outlining the configuration of the system and the placement of all solar system elements.

You will also receive a comprehensive documentation package; including the electrical installation certificate, a solar array DC string test report and a complete Operations & Maintenance Manual which highlights the emergency shutdown procedure.

If your system qualifies, an MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) certificate will be issued. If the system size is over 50kW you will be supplied with a ‘Certificate of Practical Completion’ which contains relevant system information.

12. Follow-up & Post-install Support

Your complete installation is covered by a 12 Months defects liability warranty. Should any issues or concerns arise during this period, our team is readily available to assist—either through remote support or, if necessary, by arranging a return visit to site.

13. Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) and Energy Tariff Support

We have recognised the added value of supporting our clients beyond their installation. We offer guidance and assistance to you in selecting or switching to an electricity tariff that best complements your new installation.

Support includes:

Bill analysis to ensure you are on the most cost-effective plan based on your usage patterns and generation.

Advising on time-of-use tariffs e.g. cheaper night rates for battery charging.

Identifying export-friendly tariffs that maximise income from SEG.

14. Solar Care Support for the lifetime of your system

NPS are here to support you for the lifetime of your installation.

Solar Care is the complete operation and maintenance plan for system owners. This gives you peace of mind and confidence that not only is the installed solar system compliant with insurance company requirements but ensuring its efficiency, safety and longevity, maximising the financial rewards for years to come.
